Cadets offers so much more than weekly training. There are many teams to choose from, spanning a variety of interests.
Marksmanship
Cadet Marksmanship Program is modeled after Olympic style shooting. We train on the 853C Air Rifle and emphasize safety, team building, and mental focus. In this program, five principles of marksmanship are taught to help cadets improve their skills - position, aiming, holding, breathing, and trigger control.
Access Marksmanship team page.
Biathlon
Biathlon is an Olympic sport that combines cross-country skiing with precision marksmanship. After skiing a loop participants attempt to fire their rifle at 5 targets. Participants must control their breath rates while dealing with elevated heart rates in order to shoot accurately. The corps supplies the equipment and coaching for this team free for charge. All interested cadets are encouraged to participate.
Band
Within the band program, cadets will not only learn how to play an instrument., they will also learn music theory, marching as a band (band drill) and playing within an ensemble. For those a little more advanced, they will learn how to teach and mentor other cadets. No music experience is required, however, if you already play music at home or at school, this is a great complimentary program. The more you play, the more you learn.
Drill
Drill Team is a group of cadets that marches and performs military drill movements. These movements can be completed with or without arms (De-commissioned Drill Purpose Rifles). Drill takes a great deal of concentration and discipline and gives our cadets a strong sense of accomplishment. Drill team members are expected to maintain an exceptionally high level of dress and deportment standards as they have a great sense of pride in their uniforms.
Orienteering
Orienteering is a sport that combines physical fitness with the ability to navigate through wilderness using a map and compass. It can be both an individual or team challenge. As such, it touches on several aspects of cadet training – physical fitness, the ability to make decisions, navigation skill, map reading ability, travelling in the outdoors, confidence and discipline.

Commanding Officer's Parade nights
Commanding Officer’s (CO’s) Parade is a special ceremonial parade where the Commanding Officer inspects the cadets and special presentations occur.
Sports nights
A couple of times a year we have sports and fitness nights. Cadets wear sportswear instead of uniforms. Activities include fitness testing and intramural sports.
Absences
If you are unable to attend training, it is YOUR responsibility to notify the Corps. Unexcused absences will count against your training requirements. Excusable absences include illness, schoolwork, and parent request.
Cancellations due to weather
The safety of our cadets is always our first priority. Cadets are not obligated to attend training if the weather will put them at risk. Any cancellations will be communicated via our Facebook page and in the case of late same-day cancellations, via text message to parent/guardian phone numbers which were provided at registration (be sure to keep us updated of any changes of contact information!). If a Cadet cannot attend training due to weather conditions and a general cancellation has not been issued, they must notify the Corps of their absence.
Summer training opportunities
The Department of National Defence runs a Cadet Activity Programme (CAP) and Cadet Training Centres (CTCs) across the country and offer a wide range of summer training opportunities. This is offered free of charge to Cadets. Cadets who have successfully completed their year are eligible to attend summer training. Cadets who attend summer training at a cadet training centre will receive an incentive pay of $10/day up to a maximum of $60/week. Senior Cadets may apply to Staff Cadet positions (Instructors) and will receive a daily pay depending on their rank. More information on summer training and the courses available will be provided to the Cadets when it is time to apply.
Leaving cadets
As much as the Corps hates to see you go, we understand that we are merely a stepping stone in your walk through life. We hope you enjoyed your time with us. All we ask is that you return your uniform on a training night and we’ll remove your name from our roll.
If you’ve now reached adulthood, congratulations and check out the Adult Volunteers section of our website. We would be proud to have you as part of our team again
Earn High School credits for your cadet training. Open to all cadets in Ontario who are registered in at least one high school course.
